After releasing the Ralliart version of the Mitsubishi Triton prototype at the Bangkok Motor Show in March 2022, Mitsubishi Motors announced that it would participate in this year's Cross Country Rally. Mitsubishi's participation is also to test the ability of the Mitsubishi Triton and then to redevelop the Ralliart brand in the world.
In preparation, the teams involved started from Hiroshi Masuoka who was the champion of the Paris Dakar in the 2002-2003 era. This is a testament to Mitsubishi's seriousness in reviving a brand that has very strong ties to the world of motorsport.
In the AXCR 2022 competition which will be held in November 2022, Mitsubishi Motors will field two units of special Triton specifications, one of which is ridden by Rifat Sungkar. PT Mitsubishi Motors Krama Yudha Sales Indonesia (MMKSI) is committed to providing support for every activity carried out by its parent company, especially for the development of one of its flagship models, the Triton.
“As we know that Mitsubishi Motors always uses a 'nature laboratory' to develop each model. This 2022 AXCR activity is also part of the revitalization of the Ralliart division for the world, so we decided to support Mitsubishi Motors' move by fielding our driver Rifat Sungkar with his co-driver, Julian Johan," said Intan Vidyasari, General Manager of Marketing Communication & PR Division of PT MMKSI. .
Ahead of the upcoming 2022 AXCR competition, Rifat Sungkar and Julian Johan ensure that they will be involved in every specification adjustment that will be used on the Triton in Bangkok. In addition, both Rifat and Jeje also enthusiastically welcomed their participation in the AXCR 2022 event and it was an important opportunity for their careers.
"So I myself have revealed that this is an extraordinary opportunity with Mitsubishi to be involved in this AXCR event. I do many things in motorsport and one of them is an international event like this together with Mitsubishi," said Rifat Sungkar.
On that occasion, Rifat also explained the preparations to be made in facing the upcoming AXCR competition. The class that will be followed is T1 with specifications that represent the manufacturer's standards. As for a number of modifications that will be made only limited to the suspension system, embedding roll bars and door glass materials must be light.
However, MMKSI itself has not released the specifications that will be embedded in the Rifat and Jeje Triton mounts in the upcoming 2022 AXCR. "We haven't seen the physical form of the Triton that we will use, the plan is to go to Thailand in the near future to start the development of the Triton for the upcoming 2022 AXCR," concluded Rifat.
AXCR itself is a rally competition that prioritizes vehicle durability across a number of countries in Asia. Meanwhile, which will be held in November, the participants will be challenged to cross a distance of 2,000 km starting from Buriram, Thailand and finishing in Siem Reap, Cambodia.
Meanwhile, MMKSI also confirmed that it will release the Ralliart model to Indonesia in the near future. However, MMKSI has not revealed which model will be marketed, but what is certain is that the vehicle is not only limited to livery or Ralliart accessories. "This Ralliart was launched by Mitsubishi Motors for all consumers in the world, and we hope that what is marketed in Indonesia is a special version model, not just accessories," concluded Intan.
