Scorpion venom is one of the basic ingredients for making antibiotics and cosmetics. In Turkey there is a scorpion farm that daily milks scorpion venom.
Milking a cow is commonplace, but milking a scorpion is just extraordinary. The poisoned animal that was milked came from Metin Orenler's farm in Sanliurfa, southeastern Turkey.
In Indonesia, the lure of the fantastic price of scorpion venom, which reaches Rp. 145 billion per one liter, is indeed tempting. But have you ever thought about how to get the poison?
Syahfitri Anita, a venom or scorpion venom researcher from the Indonesian Institute of Sciences' (LIPI) Biology Research Center, said that there is a special method to get the poison liquid from a scorpion. One that is often used is with electrical stimulation.
"What is often used (is) using electrical stimulation, with low voltage so that the scorpion releases its venom," explained Syahfitri.
The technique of milking or milking scorpion venom, according to Syahfitri, is one of the challenges for researchers. It takes the most efficient way to get the poison which is said to be the most expensive liquid in the world.
But you should not try to milk it yourself if you do not have the skills for it. According to Syahfitri, the venom or venom of the scorpion is very toxic and even deadly, although it is also influenced by individual immunity.
"Manual is also possible, I've seen it," said Syafitri.
