The 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee has officially been released in India. The United States (US) bloody Jeep costs 7.75 million rupees or approximately Rp. 1.4 billion. Interestingly, India became the first country to assemble the Grand Cherokee besides North America.
In the country's premium SUV market, the Bollywood Grand Cherokee will fight against its European rivals. These include the Mercedes-Benz GLE, BMW X5, Range Rover Velar, Audi Q7, and the Volvo XC90.
But of all its competitors, only the Q7 and XC90 have a 7-seater configuration, the rest are 5-passenger SUVs.
Face similar to the 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer
There are many new things to be found in the All New Grand Cherokee. For example on the front fascia, it comes with a boxy seven-blade grille as its signature. But now it is flanked by narrower main lights and uses full LED technology.
The bumper curve has also undergone revisions by protruding at the bottom and widening the middle. From the front, the new Grand Cherokee actually looks like the 2022 Grand Wagoneer, which has been launched globally.
Then when viewed from the side, the square impression of the Grand Cherokee is so thick. Just look at how the four fenders are sculpted. But Jeep is trying to be more contemporary by installing black painted C-pillars to produce a floating roof effect.
For the rear, the combination stop lamp also looks slimmer, as well as the shape of the bumper which has also received a change.
Interior of the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee
Like most premium cars today, the Grand Cherokee also uses a large monitor on the dashboard. Jeep installed a 10.25-inch screen on the driver's side, and also added another 10.1-inch monitor mounted in the middle of the dashboard for the front passengers.
The dashboard of this car also looks more elegant with premium wood accent inserts. The combination of brown and black leather and colors as well as some black gloss panels also make the feel different from the previous model.
For the Indian market, the new Grand Cherokee is only offered in a 5-passenger version. Even though globally there is also a 7 seater version with the name Grand Cherokee L.
Use 2.0L Turbo Engine
Regarding power sources, Jeep provides two engine options for the Grand Cherokee. But for India it is only available in a 2.0 liter four-cylinder turbo petrol engine which is capable of producing 275 PS of power with a peak torque of 400 Nm.
Paired with a conventional 8-speed automatic transmission, that much power is channeled to the four-wheel drive system (4WD). This car also provides four driving modes according to the terrain it faces, namely Auto, Sport, Mud/Sand and Snow.
Next Enter Indonesia
The presence of the newest Jeep Grand Cherokee has been awaited by Jeep Indonesia. The information we got, DAS Indonesia Motor (DAS Indonesia) as the sole distributor of Jeep in the country will also bring the American SUV.
Reportedly, the Jeep Grand Cherokee will be introduced at the 2023 Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS). For your information, next year's IIMS will be held February 16-26 2023. The location remains at JIExpo Kemayoran, Jakarta.
