Mini Version of Mitsubishi Delica Appears Soon, Using Turbo Engine

Even though they already have the eK X Cross, Mitsubishi is trying to explore more in the design of an SUV or crossover in the form of a kei car. Therefore, the manufacturer with the three diamond logo introduced the Mitsubishi Delica Mini as the smallest member of the Delica family.

This car will complement the Delica line up that has been around since 1986, namely Delica D: 5 (based on the Suzuki Solio) and Delica D: 5. Delica Mini is also planned to start showing itself to the Japanese public at the Tokyo Auto Salon 2023 which will be held in January next year.

Meanwhile, the official launch will only take place in the summer of 2023, coinciding with the 55th anniversary of the Mitsubishi Delica.

Kei Car SUV Posture

So far, Mitsubishi has not disclosed any technical data on the Delica Mini, except for the first two photos showing the exterior design.

Judging from its design, it is most likely that the Delica Mini uses a similar base with the Mitsubishi eK X Cross and the Wagon and Nissan Roox. This means that the Delica Mini will be included in the kei car segment with SUV-style looks that are already filled with Daihatsu Tanto Funcross and Suzuki Spacia Gear.

The resemblance to the X Cross and Roox oaks can be seen in the side mirrors that seem to connect to the rear. Especially with the existence of a sliding door that adds practicality when entering this car.

Mitsubishi said the Delica Mini was designed with the theme "Daily Adventure". The front appearance still characterizes Mitsubishi's distinctive design language, namely the Dynamic Shield with semi-circular LED twilight lights and a grille with the three diamond logo plus six squares on the side.

Then, on the sides, over fenders, side body molding and roof rails are also visible to further strengthen the aura of the SUV. Then, on the back there is also a black front bumper equipped with a pair of reflectors and a skid plate.

Interestingly, on the trunk door you can see the Hybrid emblem on the Delica Mini. With the existence of this emblem, it is possible to adopt mild hybrid technology such as Mitsubishi and other Nissan kei cars, namely the 660 cc turbo with 64 PS of 100 Nm of torque combined with an electric motor with 2.7 PS of 40 Nm of torque.
