Speaking of city cars, now their prestige has been diminished since the government has increasingly intensified the Low Cost Green Car (LCGC) segment. Although not a popular choice, used city cars like the Nissan March or Mitsubishi Mirage have their own charm.
The reason is that city car types that do not receive PPnBM tax breaks have features that are more proportional than the LCGC version. For information, both Mirage and March stopped being sold in 2018. In terms of specifications, both carry a similar configuration, namely 1,200 cc 3-cylinder.
Before discussing the advantages of each one further, let's try to compare the used prices for the 2017 release. The cheapest Nissan March 2017 sells for IDR 96 million to IDR 129 million. Meanwhile, for the Mitsubishi Mirage, the market is IDR 103 million. The difference is slight, only IDR 7 million for the cheapest price.
With a slightly more expensive price, is Mirage better than March or is it the other way around? Let's compare the advantages of the used Nissan March and Mitsubishi Mirage.
Used Nissan March, Cute City Car with Impressive Features
For those of you who are looking for a small car with good comfort and performance that doesn't disappoint, the Nissan March must be on your target list. The rounded, cute, and minimal angles make March quite popular among women.
Don't underestimate the type of engine, because the Nissan March 1.2L is supported by the HR12DE engine which is also the source of power under the hood of the Datsun GO and GO+. 3-cylinder engine, 1,198 cc with a maximum power of 76 PS at 6,000 rpm.
Interestingly, the March 1.2L has the same peak torque as the 1.5L, which is 104 Nm at 4,000 rpm. There is a choice of 5-speed manual or 4-speed conventional automatic.
Proportionally Spacious Cabin With Okay Features
As a city car, the Nissan March is classified as having the right dimensions. The March 1.2L has a size (LxWxH) of 3,780 x 1,665 x 1,525 mm with a wheelbase of 2,440 mm. Nissan March can carry two adult passengers in the back without problems with leg and head space. The interior is quite classy with black domination and silver accents.
The multimedia features in this car are quite interesting because it is supported by a 7-inch touch screen which has many functions and connections: there is support for Apps, Mirroring, Bluetooth, CD/DVD player, USB, HDMI and many other features. Audio control can also be done from the special steering wheel for the highest variant of the XS.
Completeness of Features in the Used Nissan March 1.2
Still a matter of features, for protection from a safety perspective it is also quite good. Two SRS airbags are available, ABS+EBD+BA brakes, 4-point parking sensors, ISOFIX + tether. Meanwhile, the security feature is only an alarm without an immobilizer.
On the exterior side, the completeness of type 1.2 is slightly different from version 1.5. The mirror settings are electric, but version 1.2 doesn't have the electric retract feature. Furthermore, the 1.2 type gets the fog lamp feature only in the XS type.
Used Mitsubishi Mirage, More Expensive Better Performance
If you are looking for a city car that looks neutral to all segments, this Mirage is suitable for consideration. The design is elegant because it is equipped with a muffler cutter with chrome coating, along with a front body kit that makes it look dashing. The mirrors of this car are also supported by automatic folding mirrors with turn signals to give the impression of security.
In the first facelift model in 2015, Mitsubishi tried to make it a little sportier. The model has a grille hole, a new bumper with additional chrome ornaments and black plastic trim.
Both have a 1,200 cc engine, the Mirage is equipped with a 1,193 cc 3A92 12-valve MIVEC engine, which produces 77.5 PS of power and 100 Nm of torque. It's no wonder that Mirage is quite liked by young souls because of its better energy.
Dimensionally, this car is 3,710 mm long, 1,665 mm wide and 1,510 mm high with a wheelbase of 2,450 mm. For the driver and front passenger, they have ample legroom, while the back room isn't too special.
Mitsubishi Mirage Interior, Elegant with Standard Features
Mitsubishi Mirage has a neutral appearance to all age and gender segments. Mitsubishi Mirage offers a calmer interior appearance with black accents.
The features are okay but less special, armed with digital AC settings and an in-dash radio-CD head unit that doesn't have a touch screen. Fortunately, audio settings and some functions can be done via the buttons on the steering wheel.
Completeness of Supporting Features in Mitsubishi Mirage
On the exterior, the Mitsubishi Mirage is supported by fog lamps with DRL plus daytime running lights. Furthermore, the safety features include Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), dual SRS airbags, parking sensors, Eco Indicator, and a starter button on the Exceed type.
Conclusion
Looking at the completeness of the features available in both cars, there is actually no significant difference. Each has its own advantages that its opponent does not have. For example, the Mirage is superior in terms of performance and design which is more ideal for all groups, but its features are less attractive.
In contrast, March has features that are more fun for driving comfort. Its power is also only slightly inferior when compared to the Mirage. Maybe the thing to consider buying or not is the girly design.
