Honda Starts Testing the Honda Civic Type R-GT Car to Prepare for the 2024 Super GT Race


Honda Racing Corporation (HRC) announced to test the Honda Civic Type R-GT car on 25 - 26 July 2023 at the Okayama International Circuit, Japan. This car will begin to be used in the Super GT Series racing event in 2024.

The Honda Civic Type R-GT was introduced for the first time in the world in concept form at the Tokyo Auto Salon 2023 last January.


The car immediately received a very good reception where this car won the prestigious "Concept Car Category Grand Prize" award at the 2023 Tokyo International Custom Car Contest event at the 2023 Tokyo Auto Salon event.

This car was developed from the latest generation Honda Civic Type R which was introduced in the second half of 2022. The car carries a 2.0-liter direct injection turbocharged inline 4-cylinder engine. The body design and aerodynamics of the car as well as other technologies were developed by Honda Racing Co., Ltd (HRC).


Koji Watanabe, President and CEO of HRC said “We are very proud to be able to start testing this Honda Civic Type R-GT.

Apart from that, for the first time we are using the Type R brand for our newest Honda racing car which will begin to be used in the GT500 class in the Super GT Series race in 2024. In the future, we hope this car will also be used in various other racing championships. around the world."
