- Performance Battle of MG 5 GT vs Honda City Sedan, Using Turbo Power is OK
The performance aspect is one of the advantages offered by the MG 5 GT. Armed with a conventional gasoline engine, the power generated can surpass the Toyota Vios. How does it compare to the Honda City, which uses two engine variants?
For information, the MG 5 GT carries a DOHC 4-cylinder 16 Valve VTi - TECH 1,498 cc engine. The power produced is 114 PS / 6,000 rpm and torque of 150 Nm / 4,500 rpm.
First, we will discuss the VTEC TURBO engine with a capacity of 1.0 liters. The power generated is 122 PS with a maximum torque of 173 Nm from 2,000 to 4,500 rpm.
Then in the hybrid variant, the City relies on a 1,500 cc 4-cylinder engine combined with the full hybrid e: HEV. Engine with Atkinson Cycle technology, DOHC, i-VTEC, 4-cylinder, 16-valve, and Electrically Continuously Variable Transmission (E-CVT).
The hybrid variant produces a total power of 109 PS at 3,500-8,000 rpm. In this hybrid variant, the torque is even greater, reaching 253 Nm.
When compared to performance issues, the MG 5 GT has superior power compared to the hybrid version of the City sedan. However, when compared to the City turbo, the MG 5 GT is not comparable in power.
Conclusion
Looking at the specifications offered, Honda City can outperform the MG 5 GT from various aspects. The performance of the Honda City sedan is better in the turbo variant and the features available on the Honda Sensing are even more diverse.
What we should look forward to is the price when it enters Indonesia and whether the hybrid and turbo variants will be brought here. For activities in the city, sedans still have their own charm because they offer comfort and a premium impression.
