The Toyota C-HR has an aggressive design but still looks stylish, especially since this crossover SUC also has a hybrid variant that is more fuel efficient.
In addition, the big Toyota brand, which is already attached to Indonesia, has made a number of its products sell well in each segment.
However, it turns out that the fate of the Toyota C-HR is slightly different because it is less accepted in the Indonesian automotive market.
Yes, the name C-HR was booming in Indonesia around 2017 when it was first launched, but now there is no news about this car. So, this time Autofun will provide some facts about the Toyota C-HR.
1. Launched in 2017
C-HR has several abbreviations, namely Compact High Rider, Cross Hatch Run or Coupé High Rider, where this Compact SUV was first launched in 2016 in its home country, Japan.
It turns out this car is not only for the Japanese market, because a year later the Toyota C-HR entered Europe, North Australia and then Indonesia in 2019.
2. Rio Haryanto is excited
The emergence of the Toyota C-HR also became an interesting thing. The reason is, racer from Indonesia Rio Haryanto was mentioned as one of the first consumers to buy the car.
It should be remembered that at that time Rio Haryanto's name was a topic of conversation because in 2016 he made new history by joining the Formula One (F1) racing scene.
3. Has a choice of petrol and hybrid engines
When it was officially launched in Indonesia, the C-HR came with two engine choices, namely petrol and hybrid.
For the petrol type, it is equipped with an engine coded 2ZR-FBE with specifications 4-cylinder in line, DOHC, 16 valves, Dual VVT-i with a capacity of 1,798 cc, which is capable of spewing power 139 hp at 6,400 rpm and maximum torque of 140 Nm at 4,200 rpm.
Meanwhile, the hybrid type is equipped with a petrol engine with a capacity of 1,798 cc, the power produced reaches 98 hp at 6,400 rpm and peak torque of 141 Nm at 4,000 rpm engine speed.
The engine is mated to a 35 hp electric motor and a 7-speed CVT automatic transmission. Oh yes, for the hybrid engine option, because it uses an electric motor, fuel consumption is more efficient, it is even said to be more economical than a Low Cost Green Car (LCGC).
4. Aggressive Design
Although now there is no longer a new model. However, if you look at it, this C-HR has an unusual design.
Yes, the design of this car is aggressive with lots of lines at quite interesting angles. Even the outside appearance of this car is quite dashing with 17 inch alloy wheels,
But unfortunately, consumers in Indonesia apparently have different tastes from the designer. As a result, they prefer cars that don't have many corners and are more curved.
5. Advanced Technology
C-HR itself is actually equipped with advanced technology and updated when it was launched. One of them is the use of the first Toyota New Global Architecture or TNGA chassis.
With the TNGA platform, this car is claimed to have many advantages, such as being able to spoil the driver while driving, and being able to provide a sense of comfort when the car is moving.
Toyota cars that have been embedded in TNGA are also equipped with various advanced technologies and features.
6. Lots of Features
What is no less interesting is that the Toyota C-HR is indeed equipped with Toyota Safety Sense (TSS) safety technology, which includes the Pre-Collision System (PCS), Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC), Lane Departure Alert (LDA), and Automatic High. Beams (AHB)
Apart from that, there are also several features on this car, including seven front airbags (side, front knee and window).
This car also has a Blind Spot Monitoring System, Rear View Monitoring System, Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Anti Lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Stability Control (EBD), and Brake Assist (BA). Apart from that, there is also ISOFIX, Double Disc Brake braking, headrest, Seat Belt, Brake Hold.
7. Imported Whole from Thailand
For the Indonesian market, many Toyota products are produced locally, such as in Sunter and Karawang. Even several hybrid cars have been made here.
It's just that the C-HR is not made in Indonesia, but Thailand. Many say that the hybrid car trend in Thailand is the cause. So, many people say that by being produced in Thailand, the price of hybrid cars feels expensive.
8. Disappeared In No Time
At that time, in 2022, PT TAM admitted that it would no longer sell the Toyota C-HR with a gasoline engine on the grounds of focusing on hybrid engines.
It's just that, in 2023, PT TAM will also not showcase the Toyota C-HR with a hybrid engine on the official website. However, they said consumers could buy the car by placing an order in advance.
Even so, in the country where the C-HR is produced, namely in Thailand itself, the car is also not displayed considering that since the beginning of 2023 it has apparently been no longer produced.
This means that in Indonesia itself the presence of the Toyota C-HR apparently only lasted for a lifetime, less than five years and just disappeared.
9. Prices are considered expensive
Meanwhile, even though this car is sophisticated and cool, Dewi Fortuna has not sided with the Toyota C-HR.
Reportedly, because this car is in the Compact SUV segment, the price is expensive, namely when it was first priced at IDR 488.5 million for the single tone C-HR and IDR 490 million for the two tone C-HR.
Meanwhile, the single tone hybrid engine is IDR 546.29 million and the dual tone IDR 547.79 million.
It's different from competitors in the Compact SUV segment, the price is usually between Rp. 300 million to Rp. 450 million.
