MG ZS EV 2022 Ready to Launch in Thailand, Indonesia Still Thinking About It

As is known, the MG manufacturer (Morris Garage) has big fans in the White Elephant Country, Thailand. And new news from the British car manufacturer with Chinese roots, they are preparing to present an electric SUV, the MG ZS EV 2022 there.

This is the facelift version of the MG ZS EV which was also previously available in Thailand. Of course there are several changes made by MG. Check out the details below.

The 2022 MG ZS EV looks more modern

The most obvious refreshment in the exterior area of the ZS EV 2022 is that this electric variant comes with a front without a grille. The charging port is shifted slightly to the right of the MG emblem. No longer in the middle, behind the emblem like before.

The air holes on the front bumper of the ZS EV 2022 also look bigger. Meanwhile, the LED headlights have a new shape that is firmer and more modern.

From the stern, the shape of the 2022 ZS EV has also been revised. This can especially be seen from the fresher shape of the rear bumper. Meanwhile, the rims have a turbine-like pattern with a diameter of 17 inches.

Overall, the appearance of the new MG ZS EV 2022 is much more modern and sleek. Gives a minimalist impression, especially through the 'hero' color that MG relies on for promotion, namely sky blue.

Fixed Cab Without Gear Lever

Inside the cabin, the 2022 MG ZS EV also comes with a series of refreshments. Most visible is the use of a 7 inch digital speedometer set decorated with carbon fiber motifs.

Then there is a touch screen on the dashboard measuring 10.1 inches with black trim which replaces the previous chrome aura. Then the gear shift knob is retained as well as the AC control button.

This time the embedded features are more complete. This includes a wireless mobile device charging feature, air ventilation for rear passengers and an armrest on the rear passenger seat.

Propulsion Power Reaches 440 Km One Charge

The 2022 MG ZS EV will be available in two variants. Starting from the standard model which is equipped with a 51.1 kWh battery. This version has a driving range of 320 km on a single charge (WLTP standard).

Meanwhile, for those who need further cruising range, a Long Range version is available. Where this model uses a 72.6 kWh battery. So it has a driving range of 440 km per charge.

Interestingly, the Standard model has more power with an electric motor of 177 PS. Meanwhile, the Long Range model uses a 156 PS electric motor. So the choice must take into account needs.

The two types of MG ZS EV 2022 indeed have a much better cruising range than the previous model which was only able to travel 262 km on one charge. But the consequence is that the acceleration is less responsive than before.

It is stated that acceleration from 0-100 km/h takes 8.6 seconds, almost 0.5 seconds slower than before. This is because torque is reduced from 350 Nm to 280 Nm.

Charging the MG ZS EV 2022 Standard model with a 7 kW AC charger takes 10 and a half hours. Meanwhile, the AC charger on the MG ZS EV 2022 Long Range 11 kW takes 6 hours 40 minutes.

While the 50 kW DC fast mode charges from 0-80% in 1 hour 3 minutes for the Standard model. Then the Long Range model supports 100 kW DC charging from 0-80% in just 42 minutes.

Price of MG ZS Electric

Currently, MG Sales Thailand sells only one ZS EV model. Priced at 1,190,000 baht or equivalent to IDR 517 million. So the estimated price for the new model will not be much different.

It is hoped that the 2022 MG ZS EV will be launched at the Bangkok International Motor Show which will start on March 23.

How about in Indonesia? Marketing & PR Director of MG Motor Indonesia, Arief Syarifudin, stated that currently his party is still exploring the presence of the MG ZS EV by introducing it to the public first. As well as working out the price for the product.
