War Version of the Ford Ranger, FG-P Can Run 30 Km with the Engine Off

Ford Global Fleet Sales together with RMA Group is currently manufacturing a light tactical vehicle based on the Ford Ranger (Specifications | News) called the Ford FG-P. Specially designed for national defense and security operations, this D-Cab type car offers a variety of applications and equipment that can be adapted to meet needs such as surveillance operations.

At first glance, the FG-P looks the same as the latest generation Ford Ranger which is generally sold in several countries. However, as a combat vehicle, the exterior is painted in army green, apart from that, horns are also added to the bumper, as well as iron pipes that protect the front wheel fenders.

Not to forget, the top of the car also has a roof rail which can be used to store weapons or war equipment, as well as horns on the rear bumper. Interestingly, the FG-P is equipped with hybrid technology using a small battery and an electric motor placed on the rear axle.

There is no mention of special specifications for the battery and electric motor used, but when using EV mode this car is claimed to be able to be driven 2-30 km with a maximum speed of 20 km/hour.

The Ford FG-P comes in 4 ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) engine options, namely; a 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel, a single-turbo 4-cylinder, a 3.0-litre V6 turbo diesel and a 2.3-litre 4-cylinder turbo petrol. For transmission, a 6-speed automatic and a 10-speed SelectShift automatic are available.

Ford FG-P Equipped with Silent Mode

As a tactical vehicle that is used to approach the enemy, the Ford FG-P is equipped with a silent mode. There is also an interlock system to prevent the car engine from starting due to accidental actions. To activate it, the vehicle must stop completely in neutral gear. Then silent mode can be activated and the machine turned off.

Sophisticatedly, this car is also equipped with a Black Out System which functions to turn off the electrical system in the form of lights and the operation of all vehicle sound sources such as the horn when carrying out special supervision. Even so, the main features of the vehicle can function normally, such as the AC, HVAC system, power steering and all vehicle safety systems starting from ABS, ESP, and airbags remain active.

In silent mode, the vehicle does not emit engine noise and dissipates all engine heat. This will not impact engine operation, and if necessary, the engine can be restarted immediately.
